Meditation and Self-Awareness

meditation.jpgI am a seeker. Ever since I was about 19 years old I have been questioning my purpose in Life. What is the meaning of our existence? What makes a human being truly happy? How do we navigate through life with ease, without being swept away by it? What is true health and wellness? Where do health and happiness lie?

The answer to these questions can be found within your own self, through meditation. I like to say, “Meditation is where the rubber meets the road.” All you have read about and heard from others can be experienced within yourself through Meditation. The books you read and the words and ideas from others are like a map. The map gives you an idea of what something is like, but it does not translate into the actual experience of being there. Your experience must come from within you. Meditation provides the means to attain your highest potential. I routinely teach monthly meditation classes at my good friend, Melonie Nielsen’s yoga center in Vancouver Washington (Vancouver Yoga Center).

You feed your body with food 2 or 3 times a day. You feed your mind every moment of everyday. What does your mental diet consist of? Where is the benefit in worrying, being agitated, lamenting, blaming, or feeling dissatisfied? If there is no rational benefit, why do we do it? Why are so many of us unhappy? The answers to these questions are brought to light in meditation. Your life is passing you by here and now. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Meditation will teach you to live fearlessly!
